CALL ME KATHY! WELCOME to the web site of KATHLEEN WHITTAM. Call me Kathy, are the words you are first most likely to hear when meeting her for the first time. Warm and caring and yet completely professional, her clients have found it a pleasure to work with her and consider her our Realtor. Kathy has lived in the Salem area since 1965, a move that was intended to be short-term. She had planned to return to her home state, Arizona. A funny thing happened--she fell in love with the beautiful Willamette Valley and its proximity to two of her favorite pastimes--camping and beachcombing/whale watching. She has become an individual Chamber of Commerce in sharing her love of the area. IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY AND FAITH It was here that Kathy and her now deceased husband, raised their three children. Kathy's first organizational skills began by organizing school carnivals and by leading a Girl Scout Troop. Her family continues to be of primary importance to her as does her faith. Her love of family and her beliefs form the basis of her strong business practices and ethics. She knows how important family can be in your decision-making. She also believes in disclosing the good, the bad, and especially the ugly facts regarding anything that might impact her clients. EDUCATION Before beginning her career as a Realtor, Kathy returned to college and earned her B.S. in Business at Western Oregon State in 1985. She also worked as interim secretary at her church. This experience taught her the importance of listening and confidentiality. Listening to the clients¿ needs and wants allows her to work most effectively with them; finding out what is most important to her sellers and exactly what her buyers are looking for in their new home. Kathy's education did not end with her degree. In order to serve her clients better, she is always looking for opportunities to increase her knowledge in Real Estate. She has earned her Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) and has attended many non-required courses that keep her on the cutting edge of the Real Estate world. She also trains with Brian Buffini, a nationally known trainer, to better help you in changing markets. OTHER ACTIVITIES When she is not working, you are most likely find Kathy gardening in her yard or reading--to herself or to her grandchildren. She has served on the Board of Directors of ESCAPE--a center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. She sat on the Advisory Board of Dress for Success, a program that allows low-income women to choose professional clothing for a job interview. She has captained teams for Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. Currently she volunteers monthly at a local food bank and is working with Marion Polk Food Share helping develop community gardens in the Keizer area. Caring about people is what she is about.
